Women Who Inspire, Day 3 ~ An Exclusive Q&A with ‘Spirit Junkie’ Gabrielle Bernstein (& a Giveaway!)

Every now and again you come across someone who beams with positivity and love – this is exactly how I felt when I first watched  Gabrielle Bernstein on one of her signature Vlog’s. Way back in August of last year I shared a link to Gabby’s ‘Relationships Are Assignments” post on Intent.com, and immediately I was hooked on her A Course In Miracles-inspired take on the people and events that come our way.

For those who have yet to hear of Gabby, her journey began many years ago after trading in her partying ways for immersion into the popular metaphysical text, A Course in Miracles. I recently tuned in to her TEDx talk where she describes how she was literally pulled toward the text while at the bookstore. It is an inspiring watch!

Her time spent learning ACIM led to a new career teaching meditation to large groups, and coaching others towards finding fulfillment in their lives. Her first book Add More Ing to Your Life: A Hip Guide to Happiness is a best-seller, and her latest effort Spirit Junkie: A Radical Road to Self-Love and Miracles has received rave reviews.

In addition to her books, speaking engagements, coaching and writing for blogs around the web, Gabby has also launched an community called Her Future. The community provides a space for women to connect to talk about health and nutrition, share their blogs, connect for business purposes, and more. It is a wonderful community filled with supportive women that are there to help one another.

You can read our exclusive Q&A with Gabby Bernstein below, and read all the way to the bottom to WIN a copy of Spirit Junkie: A Radical Road to Self-Love and Miracles!!

TCP – You are undoubtedly living your passion. Would you share with us what ignited the spark within you that has led you to your work today?

GB – “Through my own personal journey of transforming my fearful projections I was guided to teach others to do the same. As a student of metaphysics I’ve come to live in a much more serene, centered, abundant state. How dare I not teach others how I got here.”

TCP – How do you remain authentic and true to yourself in your work when everyday obstacles arise?

GB – “Though I’m perceived as a teacher I am always a student first. As a student I practice the principles I teach in all of my affairs. Each moment of my life offers me spiritual assignments to strengthen my authenticity. Because I’m committed to showing up for these assignments I remain centered in my truth regardless of the given circumstances.”

TCP – What advice do you have for those seeking to find their “purpose” or live their passion, but perhaps they are finding themselves at a roadblock or feel that they are on the wrong path?

GB – “I believe our true purpose is to heal our mind. When we restore our mind back to love then we have clear direction on what to do in the world. When our mind is blocked by fear we’re blocking our purposeful direction.”

TCP – Would you like to share any projects that you are currently working on with our readers?

GB – “I’m about to launch my new meditation album called MediDating – Meditations for Fearless Romance. I’m also in the midst of writing my third book entitled, The Lovetarian Way – A Guidebook of Subtle Shifts for Miraculous Change.”

TCP -  Finally, you’re work is undoubtedly rewarding on many levels. What is the most rewarding aspect in sharing your truth with others?

GB – “It is an honor to do what I do. The most rewarding moments are when I receive tweets, emails and facebook messages from people who have been transformed by the work. My response is always, “I didn’t change your life. You did…”

My favorite quote at the moment that ignites my passion and confidence is:
“whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic, and power in it. Begin it now.” -W.H. Murray

Awesome! Such brief but essential words :) I love that she tells us we need to heal our minds and bring back love. I TOTALLY agree. We’ve got a lot of internal healing to do. I’m reading Marianne Williamson’s A Course in Weight Loss right now and it’s ALL about internal healing. I love it. Thanks for this great series!

A quote I found last year that has stuck with me as I try to find peace and stillness is:

“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.”
    -Chinese Proverb

Still feeling pretty tense though so thanks for making me take a look at it again today. :)

Thanks for the great series Heidi, really enjoying it. Here is one quote I really love:

“Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.”

My favorite quote is “(Tool+Training+Experience) x Mindset = Goal/Success. BUT if your mindset is zero then equation is (100 + 100 +100) x 0 = Failure”- I actually forgot who said it and where I got it from (so bad of me!- Sorry!) but whenever I think I am able to do something i think back to this quote and say to myself that I am the one thing that is holding myself. I have everything I need to succeed except my mindset and then, my thinking changes. it doesn’t hurt to say myself, “I think I can, I think I can,” haha.

Great quote Stephanie! It certainly doesn’t hurt to say that!!

Hi Heidi! Heidi Ferrer here from Girl to Mom.com.

This interview is awesome, congratulations. I just discovered Gabby and as a recovering addict myself, I want to learn more about her journey- I bought her new book and I have already gotten a lot out of it. The one “mad little lie” she writes about, that we came to believe about ourselves and set our path off course- my mad little lie was “I’m not worthy.” My sister’s was “I’m not safe.” So interesting. xo

      Hi Heidi!
That’s so great that you are reading Spirit Junkie!
She has a lot of great wisdom, and I’m glad you’re learning about yourself.
Mine would be the same as your sisters, “I’m not safe”. It’s so interesting to see how things unfold and look back to how they may have come to be this way.
      xo

I am huge into music and always find inspiration in the refrain from Yellowcard’s song “Believe.”

    “Everything is gonna be alright
    Everything is gonna be alright
    Everything is gonna be alright
    Be strong believe”
