3 Steps To Discover The Meaning of Your Life

The process of finding the meaning of your life consists of 3 steps:

  • Understand the principle of free choice.
  • Create your core principle.
  • Align your life with your core principle.

Understand the principle of free choice

Norman Vincent Peale once said, “The greatest power we have is the power of choice. If you are unhappy, you can choose to be happy. With a little effort, you will be happy. If you tend to be afraid, you can choose to have courage. The entire direction and quality of each person’s life is determined by their decisions.”

Choice is the most important activity of your mind because by choosing you communicate your wishes and desires to your subconscious mind. Once your subconscious mind knows your desires, it will do whatever it takes to manifest them in your life. Every choice you make in your life becomes your goal. And if you’re serious about it, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t achieve it.

On the other hand, indecisiveness can not only create frustration and anxiety, but it can also confuse your subconscious about what you really want. It is important that you make decisions in accordance with your true wishes and desires.

Many of us let others make decisions for us, or make decisions based on what we think is “right,” even when it’s against our best wishes. What’s right for someone else may not be right for you, and to find out, listen to what your heart says.

To start, make a list of things that interest you, that you’ve always enjoyed, that make you feel better, that inspire you to move forward no matter what challenges you face. Do you like to be creative, do you move? Do you like nature? Do you like the sea? Do you enjoy helping others? Do you feel the satisfaction of making a difference in other people’s lives?

Whatever interests you, put it on your list: things I like to do.

And for each item on your list, think about it and write it down: What do you like about it and why? And how could you make money doing it for a living?

Create your core principle

The next step in your journey to discovering your purpose in life is to go through the list you made earlier and look for something that repeats itself. It doesn’t have to be directly in the text.

Whatever it is, try to identify a central theme in the things you like. Then try to summarize this topic in a short, concise sentence. This will be your motto. It could even be a quote from a famous person or a key phrase from a school of philosophy that influenced you. Write down this motto.

Align your life with your core principle

The final step on this journey is to align your path with your core principle. First, make small changes in your lifestyle that will fundamentally bring this principle into your life.

Live by the principle every day and every second. It will take a few days, but then you will notice a difference in your approach to life. Your purpose in life is to be satisfied with what you do. Keep your motto in mind and make decisions that align with it. The rest, like luck, money, and harmony, will come by themselves.
